Terms of warranty

Duralium Limited rustproof warranty

This warranty applies to eligible Duralium products, subject to the terms below.

1. Coverage and duration

  1. This warranty covers products purchased from a Duralium-authorised distributor, dealer, or retailer and installed within India.
  2. The warranty period commences on the date the product is dispatched from Duralium’s premises.
  3. In this warranty, “lifetime rustproof warranty” means rustproof coverage for 30 years. Duralium’s rustproof claim is based on testing conducted by certified agencies under controlled laboratory conditions intended to reflect climatic conditions in India.
  4. This warranty applies only to pre-painted Duralium products. Mill-finish products are excluded.
  5. The warranty may be transferred to another owner if the original purchase invoice is provided with the transfer request. Approval of a transfer is at Duralium’s discretion.

2. Product inspection and transportation

  1. The customer should inspect the product before it is transported to the installation site. Any complaint about the product’s visible condition must be submitted in writing before transportation. If no complaint is submitted, the product will be treated as accepted in its delivered condition.
  2. The customer may arrange transportation or ask Duralium to arrange it. A third-party logistics provider is independent of Duralium and is not its agent or partner. Duralium is not responsible for damage caused during transportation, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

3. Installation and care

  1. The customer must use installers who have the appropriate knowledge and experience for the work. Duralium is not responsible for any loss, damage, or expense caused by improper installation.
  2. The product must be installed and maintained according to Duralium’s instructions. For roofing, the product must be installed at an incline no greater than 75 degrees from the vertical.
  3. The product must be cleaned at least once every six months and whenever dirt or other deposits accumulate. Do not use chemical cleaners on colour-coated products.
  4. The installed surface should remain exposed to rainfall for natural washing and be kept clear of debris. Prevent water from collecting on the roof, and seal overlaps properly to prevent water ingress.
  5. Fasteners, accessories, and structural supports, including trusses and purlins, must be kept in good condition. The customer must replace items that have rusted, corroded, or otherwise deteriorated. Damage caused by deteriorated supports or accessories is excluded.
  6. Duralium’s installation and maintenance instructions may include examples and guidance; they are not necessarily exhaustive. Duralium may identify environmental and installation conditions it considers suitable for product performance. A material departure from its instructions or advice may affect warranty coverage, subject to applicable law.

4. Exclusions

This warranty does not cover rust, damage, discolouration, or deterioration caused by:

  1. Natural or external events beyond Duralium’s control, including earthquakes, floods, fires, storms, cyclones, heavy rain, hail, falling objects, external force, explosions, riots, civil unrest, war, radiation, harmful gases or fumes, acid rain, chemicals, or other foreign substances in the atmosphere.
  2. Direct contact with animals, animal waste, or decomposing material where the product has been installed contrary to Duralium’s recommendations.
  3. Applying paint, lacquer, coatings, or other foreign materials or treatments to the product.
  4. Scratching, abrasion, impact by hard objects, misuse, alteration, modification, use for an unintended purpose, or storage contrary to Duralium’s instructions.
  5. Failure to remove debris or to provide free drainage of water, including internal condensation, from product surfaces.
  6. Storage in an uninstalled condition for more than six months from the date of purchase.
  7. Moving, removing, or reinstalling the product after it has been installed at its original location.
  8. Uniform colour change, fading, dust, deposits, or discolouration caused by dripping from trees, leaves, pipes, or other structures, or changes in coating gloss.
  9. Exposure to chemical fumes before, during, or after installation.
  10. Improper fasteners, unsuitable structural supports or bases, poor installation, or fastening products that are inferior to or not recommended by Duralium.
  11. Installation less than 3 km from the ocean or another saline water body. This warranty covers products exposed to normal weather conditions beyond that distance.
  12. Contaminated air or deposits involving smoke from burning wood or other materials, chemical fumes, industrial pollutants, harmful gases, ammonia, chlorine, saltpetre, ash, cement dust, carbon black, salts, or similar substances, as well as continuous high humidity.
  13. Contact with cement dust, wet or dry concrete, or abrasive materials, whether before or after installation.
  14. Condensation, which is a natural phenomenon.
  15. Use of accessories that are incompatible with aluminium.
  16. Failure to keep the product clean or to replace deteriorated fasteners and structural supports, where that failure causes damage to the product.
  17. Installation in environmental or site conditions Duralium has advised against, or material departure from Duralium’s installation guidance.

5. Making a warranty claim

  1. A valid warranty certificate must be signed, sealed, and stamped by an authorised Duralium distributor or dealer and must show the purchase date.
  2. The customer must report a manufacturing defect in writing to the authorised dealer from whom the product was purchased within 24 hours of first noticing the defect. The supplied warranty terms state that the warranty expires if the complaint is not made within that period.
  3. If a manufacturing defect is noticed before installation, the customer must notify Duralium immediately and must not install the product until Duralium has inspected and assessed it.
  4. When making a claim, the customer must provide the original purchase receipt and the duly completed warranty certificate. The customer must also provide information and evidence showing that the failure resulted from a manufacturing defect.
  5. The customer must allow Duralium to inspect the product and the installation site. Duralium may prepare an inspection report based on its findings; the supplied warranty terms state that the report is binding on the parties. Additional inspection expenses are payable by the customer.
  6. If Duralium accepts a claim, its remedy under this warranty is replacement of the defective material, at Duralium’s discretion. Accessories and installation charges are not included. The removed defective material must be returned to Duralium through the dealer or retailer. Any replacement is subject to applicable law.
  7. The customer is responsible for the labour and costs of removing the original product and installing a replacement.
  8. Duralium may deny or end warranty coverage where the customer has failed to follow the installation or maintenance instructions, subject to applicable law.

6. Other terms

  1. If any part of this warranty is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
  2. This warranty is governed by Indian law. Courts in Ernakulam will have exclusive jurisdiction to the extent legally valid. Nothing in this term limits any forum or venue available under mandatory consumer-protection law.
  3. This warranty does not exclude rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
